Bobcats Squelch Oaks Offense in Shutout Win
|
Brad Porretta, who is rated as the 31st best prospect by BNN, never let the Oaks get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Bobcats to a win, 3-0. The winner was Porretta. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Bill Frazer. Mike Garst notched his 13th save in 14 chances.
The Bobcats had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 3-0, Walnut Park, with one out. Orono, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. John Billings dug in at the plate, but on a 1-1 fastball, he flied out.
The Bobcats saw their record improve to 38-28.
