Walnut Park turned a good performance from starting pitcher Heath Maughn into a 4-2 triumph over the Spokane Selects at Ballpark of Walnut Park. In 6.2 innings, Maughn surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The Bobcats, at 36-27, lead by one game in their division.

Ruben Cabriales had a big 2-run home run for the Bobcats in the bottom of the third inning. With Walnut Park leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Ismael Resendez, who is tied for 9th in the StC in wins with 5, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Bobcats on top, 4-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Walnut Park manager Hua Pian.
