The New Rochelle Purple Wave beat the Hickory Crawdads, 5-4, in part because of center fielder Dennis Quesada. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New Rochelle reliever Ron Lombardi picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Chris Verellen was tagged with the loss. New Rochelle is now 28-33, Hickory 35-26.

Quesada had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 2-0 cutter from Chris Verellen, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Purple Wave a 5-4 lead. It was the 9th double of the year for Quesada.

New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
