The timely hitting of John Anderson helped the Denver Pilots down the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 6-5. Anderson was 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Pilots. Denver reliever Luis Diaz was the winner. His record is now 2-3. Justin Berardi took the loss. Jarred Gangi closed the door for Denver, picking up his 8th save of the year.
Anderson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Justin Berardi, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Pilots a 6-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Anderson.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Denver manager Byung-sik Lee.
With the win, Denver pushed its record to 31-28.
