Denver Downs Walnut Park, 2-0
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Denver Pilots and the Walnut Park Bobcats, pitcher Chris Marquis was superb. The Denver left-hander, who is tied for 8th in the StC in strikeouts with 71, spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. With the win, Denver has a record of 30-30. Walnut Park falls to 32-28.
Denver used a well-timed hit by Luke Doll to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pilots ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Hua Pian. "That was the problem."
