The Denver Pilots picked up a win, 4-3, over the Orono Oaks at University of Maine Stadium. Gus Marquez led the charge. The Fruitville, Florida native went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for Denver. David Fry went 5 innings for Denver to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record improves to 2-6. With the win, the Pilots have a record of 28-28.
Denver used a well-timed hit by Jim Green to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Pilots ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Orono manager Mike Barriga. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
