Bowsers Capture Close Win
|
The Lake Elsinore Storm got a superb performance from pitcher Roberto Diaz. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Columbus. The Bowsers won the game, 1-0. Diaz threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Brian Ashley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record stands at 4-1. Arturo Pintado picked up his 3rd save of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Art McDonald? The Columbus right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bowsers on top, 1-0. For the game, McDonald had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Adam Farmer, the Columbus skipper. "This one tested us."
The Storm, at 18-72, have lost 11 straight games.
