Widowmakers Pick Up 3-2 Road Win Over Columbus
In a low-scoring tilt between the Weedpatch Widowmakers and the Columbus Bowsers, Jose Cruceta, who is tied for 3rd in the S-A in innings pitched with 113.0, was the difference-maker. The Weedpatch right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Cruceta, now 8-5. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. Oliver Wood recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 16 for 18.

Weedpatch used a big swing from Dale Day to get the win. The left fielder walloped a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Widowmakers up, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.

After the game, Weedpatch manager Tony Velez applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The third-place Widowmakers improved to 46-46.
