Bowsers Roll to 10-2 Win Over Comets
|
The Columbus Bowsers defeated the Kalamazoo Comets, 10-2. Shortstop Yoneo Yamamoto deserved a large share of the credit. Yamamoto was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Bowsers. Mike Hinton, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held Kalamazoo to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Columbus is now 51-39. Kalamazoo is 26-64.
Columbus used a timely hit from Nate Fard to get the win. The right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bowsers on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Said losing manager Sam Furfari: "We need to play with more of an edge."
