The White Deer Tropics had to overcome a fine effort from Columbus pitcher David Procaccini to win, 5-4, at Ballpark of Columbus. Procaccini went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jake Bell, now 4-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Carlos Calderon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 5 save opportunities.
J.R. Chambers provided a timely hit. The White Deer catcher delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tropics on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Columbus manager Joe Mills said, following the tough loss.
The Bowsers, now 50-37, have lost 4 straight.
