Carter Slugs Lumberjacks to 7-4 Win
Getting a good performance from first baseman Patrick Carter, the Bangor Lumberjacks defeated the Nashua Sweepers, 7-4. Carter went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Lumberjacks. Bangor pitcher Jeremy Reich got the win, upping his record to 2-4. Steve Quintero got the loss. The Lumberjacks, at 41-45, sit in third place in the Southern A East Division.

Bangor used a clutch at-bat from Kevin Mortensen to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Lumberjacks ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Mortensen told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
