Lumberjacks Rack Up 7-1 Win Versus Kalamazoo
The Bangor Lumberjacks topped the Kalamazoo Comets, 7-1, in Southern A action at Ballpark of Bangor. The standout performance belonged to Bangor pitcher and Covina, California, native Mike Lopez. Lopez, now 6-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Bobby Simpson earned his 4th save in 5 chances.

Adam Cartwright had a big solo home run for the Lumberjacks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Bangor leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a sinker from fireballing left-hander Pat Potter and swatted a home run to center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lumberjacks ahead, 3-1.

"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Kalamazoo manager Morgan Van Dyke.

The Lumberjacks improved their record to 41-42 with the win over Kalamazoo.
