The Nashua Sweepers had to overcome a good performance from Lake Elsinore pitcher Larry Bute to claim a 3-2 win at Miller Park. Bute went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Nashua reliever Steve Quintero picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. John Richardson took the loss. Glen Foster earned the save, his 14th.

Nashua took a 3-2 lead on Malcolm McKechnie's 20th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McKechnie hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Lake Elsinore pitcher John Richardson visibly frustrated.

"We put together a nice win," McKechnie said.

The win puts the Sweepers at 39-35, while the Storm drop to 14-60.
