Aztecs Handle Lake Elsinore, Snag 2-0 Win
|
Starting pitcher R.J. Eisen gave the Mexico City Aztecs a rock-solid effort. The Edgewater, New Jersey native helped his team defeat the Lake Elsinore Storm, 2-0, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Eisen picked up the win for Mexico City, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 7-3. Ken Griffey picked up the save for Mexico City, his 12th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Aztecs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman Dean Hostetler hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jeremy Abbott and made the score 2-0, Aztecs. Hostetler was 1 for 3.
Hostetler told a Mexico City Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Mexico City, at 51-18, is 5 games up in the Southern A West Division.
