Aggies Nipped by Bowsers, 10-9
|
In a high-scoring contest between Columbus and Atlanta, left fielder Matthew Alexander was a difference-maker. Alexander, who is tied for 4th in the S-A in triples with 4, distinguished himself in the 10-9 Columbus win. He was 2-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Chris Robles earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Scott Burner, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Jayden Spikes delivered a big hit for Columbus. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bowsers ahead, 10-9. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Spikes, "one at-bat at a time."
The last-place Bowsers own a record of 16-55.
