Bowsers Win Nail-Biter in 14
|
The Columbus Bowsers wiggled past the Nashua Sweepers, 4-3, in 14 innings at Miller Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Columbus pitcher Gil Carroll. Joseph Piotrowski picked up the win in relief for Columbus, while Andrew Rogers took the loss. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Nashua.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jorge Figueroa? The slick-fielding second baseman Figueroa stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put Columbus up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 7, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We had a chance to win," said Nashua manager Tony Allen, "but we didn't get it done."
