Sweepers Nip Tropics, 7-6
|
White Deer got a terrific game from designated hitter Steve Anderson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Nashua, 7-6. Anderson went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Mark Williams was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Danny Peralta. Nashua's record now stands at 21-41, placing them 5th in the Southern A East Division.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 24-year old shortstop Tim Beets. Beets had a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Sweepers ahead, 7-6. For the game, Beets had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Sweepers manager Tony Allen.
