The Nashua Sweepers and Kalamazoo Comets squared off at Miller Park.

The Kalamazoo Comets went down to defeat to Lorenzo Martinez and his Nashua teammates. The final score was 4-1, in favor of the Sweepers. Martinez got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Matt Bowden, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

Carlos Ramos had a big 3-run home run for the Sweepers in the bottom of the second inning. With Nashua trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Pat Potter and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Sweepers on top, 3-1.

"We took home the win," said Ramos. "What's not to like?"

By defeating Kalamazoo, the third-place Sweepers improved to 34-26.
