White Deer left-hander Alex Gomez pitched his team to victory over the Kalamazoo Comets at Wizards Stadium. The final score was 8-2. Today's win puts White Deer at 32-25, while Kalamazoo falls to 30-27.
Mike Hopkins went 1-5 for White Deer. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Alex Gonzales. It was his 62nd hit of the season.
"It's a mindset," said Gomez. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
