5-Hit Barrage by Martin
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Pat Martin -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Stu Gordon Stadium and paced the 6-4 Golden Bears win over the Penn State Nittany Lions.

After his dynamite batting performance, the California first baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Pat Martin singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Willie Lalinde in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

Thus far this season in 22 games, Martin is batting .312 with 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 29 hits in 93 at-bats.
