Scorpions Lose to Whistlers, 7-5
|
The inspired effort of Syracuse shortstop Guillermo Ramos was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-5, to the Boston Whistlers. Ramos was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Boston pitcher Antonio Higuera earned the win, hiking his record to 2-2. Bob Garbee suffered the loss. The first-place Whistlers, at 84-74, lead the American Conference Central Division by 20½ games.
Brian Brockman aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 5.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Brockman.
