Dragons Lose to Heathens, 5-2
|
The timely hitting of Austin Compton helped the Halifax Heathens down the Dallas Dragons, 5-2. Compton was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Heathens. The winner in relief was Sean Muzzy. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. Miguel Soto got the save, his 12th in 18 chances.
The Heathens got a big at-bat from shortstop Adam Bechdel. For the game, Bechdel was 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Halifax a 3-2 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Compton. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
With the victory, the Heathens upped their record to 90-62.
