Mark Payne was instrumental in his team's 12-2 triumph over the Santa Fe Chiefs. The first baseman was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Indianapolis Eagles. Jonathan Higginbotham was the winner. He's now 6-8. The loser was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Braden Shaw. The win puts Indianapolis at 82-70 this season.

With Indianapolis leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Payne hit a fastball from Braden Shaw for a 2-run home run. It was his 25th home run of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 4-0.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Payne.
