Syracuse Dealt 4-3 Defeat
|
The Maine Pines knocked off the Syracuse Scorpions, 4-3, in National Conference action at Scorpion Stadium. Maine pitcher and New Fairview, Texas, native Dan Miller had an outstanding performance. Maine reliever Matt Haselden picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Ivan Medina took the loss. Chris Hames was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 17 save opportunities.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Skyler Fundis? The 2025 NC batting champion Fundis stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Maine up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Dan gave us a heck of an effort," said Maine manager David Whigham.
Maine is now 78-72, Syracuse 52-98.
