The Maine Pines got a superb performance from pitcher Justin Jemison, but the Santa Fe Chiefs still won the game, 3-2. Jemison threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Picking up the win was Dave Harvey. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 5. Santa Fe is in third place in the American Conference Central Division with a record of 63-86.
The Chiefs got a big at-bat from first baseman Steve McKinstry. For the game, McKinstry was 1-2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 32nd home run of the season gave Santa Fe a 3-2 lead.
McKinstry called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
