Dallas and Austin duked it out and the Dragons came out victorious.

Dallas pitcher Dan Mathis had a large part in his team beating the Austin Desperados, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Dallas reliever Dan Mathis picked up the win, while J.R. Mitchell took the loss for Austin. Mike Braasch earned his 1st save in 1 chances.

Dallas used the timely hitting of Jay Thibodeaux to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dragons ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Mathis told the Dallas Daily News. "Whatever it takes."

The defeat makes Austin 88-55.
