Dragons Fall to Desperados, 7-3
|
In the 7-3 Austin win over Dallas, the impact of Eric Barlow was substantial. Barlow, who finished 5th in the AC in stolen bases with 50 in 2018, was 3-4 with 2 triples. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Joe Townsend, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-5. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Austin currently is in second place in the American Conference South Division at 78-65.
Barlow had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Steve McClung, he banged a bases-clearing triple to left-center, giving the Desperados a 4-3 lead. It was the 6th triple of the year for Barlow.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Austin manager Adam Ponder.
