Syracuse Beats Daytona Beach, 6-2
|
Bobby Tapia was a major factor in the 6-2 Syracuse win over Daytona Beach. The Scorpions third baseman was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was four-time All-Star John Froerer. He tossed 107 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. The Scorpions go to 49-90 with the win.
Tapia contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Syracuse in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Tapia took a fastball from Ricardo Alvarado and stroked the double to right. His 14th double of the season allowed the Scorpions to leap in front, 3-2.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Scorpions manager Jose Torres.
