Ziersch Helps Charleston Bombard Chicago
The Charleston Shiners used the hitting of left fielder Nelson Ziersch to subdue the Chicago Gangsters, 16-4. For the game, Ziersch went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Mario Barillas got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. Charleston used a clutch hit from Cole Calkins to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Shiners ahead, 7-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
