In a tight contest at Ballpark of Charleston, the Charleston Sea Dogs edged the Syracuse Scorpions by the score of 4-3. Charleston third baseman Jeff Yule, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winner in relief was Gregg Daugherty. He is now 5-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Charleston, at 79-55, sits in second place in the National Conference South Division.

Had Dusty Anderson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Anderson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Sea Dogs.

"It was a solid team effort," Anderson said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
