Whistlers Drop Chiefs, 4-3

The Boston Whistlers defeated the Santa Fe Chiefs, 4-3, in part because of right fielder Ben King. King was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Whistlers. Scott Johnson picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-1. He struck out 1 in 8 innings. The first-place Whistlers, at 65-65, lead the American Conference Central Division by 3 games.
Boston took a 4-2 lead on King's 22nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Efrain Gutierrez in the top of the seventh, propelled Boston to the win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Santa Fe manager Brandon Harper.
