The Syracuse Scorpions downed the Tampa Bay Captains, 6-1, at Ahoy Park. Stellar pitching by Dan Dean had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Syracuse, with the win, is 45-85.

Syracuse needed the clutch hitting of Alex Cruz to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Scorpions on top, 4-1. For the game, Cruz had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Tampa Bay manager Jalen Armour.
