Z's Lose By a Run at Hickory
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Pat Bell, the Ann Arbor Z's lost to the Hickory Crawdads, 5-4. Bell went 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. Hickory, at 30-27, sits in 4th place in the Stripes Conference West Division.

In the bottom of the third, Hickory third baseman Dan Canady had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Ann Arbor hurler Pat Potter, Canady grounded out, driving in 1 run. That made the score 5-2, Hickory. For the day, Canady drove in one run.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Hickory manager Ray Sanchez.
