Whitney Excels, But Bobcats Win
The Walnut Park Bobcats outlasted John Whitney and the Westwood Bruins, 12-11. Whitney was impressive in the loss. The Westwood shortstop went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 7 RBI and scoring once. Phil White picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Chris Fitzsimmons suffered the loss. Walnut Park's record now stands at 32-22, placing them second in the Stripes Conference West Division.

The Bobcats got a big hit from designated hitter Andy Sklar. In the bottom of the seventh, Sklar smacked a bases-clearing double off Westwood pitcher Chris Fitzsimmons. It was his 2nd double of the season. Suddenly, the Bobcats were ahead, 12-11.

In postgame comments to the Walnut Park News, Sklar said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
