Prairie Thunder Prevail, 3-1, Over Spokane
|
Prairie Thunder Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Spokane Selects and Randolph Prairie Thunder.
Randolph pitcher Ricardo Alvarado had a large part in his team beating the Spokane Selects, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Alvarado yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-3. Jarrod Threats picked up the save for Randolph, his 18th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Prairie Thunder had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when first baseman Matt Anderson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Paul Mitchell and made the score 3-1, Prairie Thunder. Anderson went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Anderson told the Randolph Bulletin.
With the win, Randolph upped its record to 39-15.
