Starting pitcher Donnie Marcus pitched well enough to help the Fremont Marshalls beat the Walnut Park Bobcats, 4-3. Marcus got the win, improving to 4-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Aaron Ewing notched his 5th save of the season.
Aaron Nelson helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a 1-1 curveball from Charlie Thoemke for a 2-run home run, to give Fremont a 2-0 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Fremont manager Elias Nunez.
The 4th-place Marshalls now have a record of 24-29.
