Walnut Park Bobcats pitcher Earl Gomez was in top form, leading his team past the Fremont Marshalls, 6-0. Gomez, now 6-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was Bobby Fawbush.
In the bottom of the second inning, left fielder Ionut Irimia had a 2-run home run for Walnut Park. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Bobcats on top, 2-0.
Said losing manager Elias Nunez: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
