Ballpark of Lexington was the site of a competitive game between the Palm Springs Heat and New Rochelle Purple Wave.
New Rochelle turned a good effort from starter Kevin Clinger into a win over the Palm Springs Heat at Ballpark of Lexington. The final score was 3-2. Clinger, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk.
Steve Nalbach broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fourth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Purple Wave in front, 3-2. For the game, Nalbach went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It's a mindset," said Clinger. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The second-place Purple Wave go to 28-23.
