The New Rochelle Purple Wave besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Palm Springs right fielder Tom Klenke by beating the Heat, 5-4, at Ballpark of Lexington. Klenke went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win gives New Rochelle a season record of 27-23.

The Purple Wave got a clutch hit from third baseman Dan Scott. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Purple Wave.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Scott.
