Raccoons Come Up Short at New Rochelle, 5-4
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave weathered a fine game by Tucson right fielder Justin LaMontagne to upend the Raccoons, 5-4, at Ballpark of Lexington. LaMontagne was 2-5 with 2 home runs. Mike Wroten recorded the save, his 16th. New Rochelle has now won 9 straight.
In the bottom of the sixth, New Rochelle first baseman J.J. Rains hit a run-scoring single to right field. It put the Purple Wave up, 5-4.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Tucson manager Bill Escobar. "But we decided not to take it."
