Heat Rally Late to Clip New Rochelle

The New Rochelle Purple Wave could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kyle Griffin into a win. Instead, the Palm Springs Heat prevailed, 5-4. Griffin threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Isiah Hamlin earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. With the win, Palm Springs has a record of 20-29. New Rochelle falls to 26-23.
Palm Springs used the clutch hitting of Kevin Schneider to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Heat ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"This was a good win," said Schneider.
