Pilots Mow Down Bobcats, 9-1
|
The Denver Pilots picked up a win at Pilots Ballpark, knocking off the Walnut Park Bobcats, 9-1. Starting pitcher Matt Dickson was a big reason why. Dickson, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. The save was credited to Tom Capasso, his 1st.
Robby Finkler had a big grand slam home run for the Pilots in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jorge Santos, who is tied for 7th in the StC in strikeouts with 59, and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilots ahead, 5-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Finkler told the Denver Daily. "It's as simple as that."
The third-place Pilots have won 6 straight games.
