Purple Wave Upend Raccoons, 6-3
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave picked up a win at Raccoons Ballpark, taking down the Tucson Raccoons, 6-3. Starting pitcher Chris Benson was a big reason why. Benson got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Mike Walter got credit for the save for New Rochelle. It was his 4th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jason Clare? The New Rochelle second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Purple Wave on top, 3-2. For the game, Clare had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Clare.
The defeat makes Tucson 19-32.
