Admirals Drop Lumberjacks, 7-5
|
Travis Biggar, who is tied for 3rd in the S-A with a .378 batting average, led Barrie to a triumph over Bangor. The final score was 7-5. The shortstop went 3 for 4, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 3 runs and added 1 RBI. Joaquin Santiago earned the win to go to 6-3. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Jesus Ochoa earned the save for Barrie.
The Admirals got an important contribution from left fielder John Austin, who in the bottom of the first hit a fastball to left for a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Admirals ahead, 4-0.
"We ground out the win," said Austin. "That's all that matters."
The 4th-place Lumberjacks dropped to 20-33.
