Hillbillies Score Late to Upend Bowsers, 5-3
|
The Hillbillies grabbed a win, 5-3, at Ballpark of Columbus, overcoming a fine effort from Columbus pitcher Miguel Rayos. Rayos went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Picking up the win was Brent Gudim. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 9 and walked 2. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Pat Eisen.
Poplar Bluff used the timely hitting of Matt Flood to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hillbillies on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Flood.
Poplar Bluff now sits at 21-30, while Columbus falls to 11-40.
