Sweepers Beat Comets, 6-5
|
Marcus Hoffman did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Kalamazoo Comets from being beaten, 6-5, to the Louisville Sweepers at Miller Park. Hoffman went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Julio Mora earned the win, while 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jordan Santiago took the loss for Kalamazoo. Mike Hietala recorded his 5th save for Louisville.
Jeff Duenas went 1-2, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Louisville. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jim Unknown. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Duenas.
The win for the Sweepers raised their record to 27-21.
