Comets Sneak Past Lumberjacks, 8-7

Bangor designated hitter John Jimenez was sensational. He went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 3 walks, while scoring 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kalamazoo beat the Lumberjacks, 8-7. Reliever Kevin Kerns picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Mike Lopez took the loss. Kalamazoo is now 21-29.
El Campo, Texas-born Sam Berger came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Comets trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Kalamazoo on top.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Berger.
