The performance of Bobby Tapia proved critical in helping Syracuse beat Austin, 8-6. The Scorpions third baseman was 4 for 7 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Carlos Mejia claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 4-4. With the win, the Scorpions are 43-82.

Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Paul Inman to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 17th inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 8-6. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"We maximized our offense today," said Syracuse skipper Jose Torres. "That makes everyone's life easier."
