Cruz, Scorpions Too Much for Heathens
Fans watched the Syracuse Scorpions and the Halifax Heathens fight to the finish.

Scorpions second baseman Alex Cruz left his mark on his team's 7-6 win over the Halifax Heathens. Cruz, who is tied for 9th in the AC with a .308 batting average, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for Syracuse in the contest. John Landgren earned the save for Syracuse, his 17th.

The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Cruz delivered big-time for Syracuse, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Chris Johnson. The game-changing hit put the Scorpions on top, 7-6.

"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Cruz told the Syracuse Today.

With the win, the Scorpions are 42-80.
