The Santa Fe Chiefs powered past the Austin Desperados, 11-3, at Chiefs Ballpark. Bobby Mendoza provided some of the pop. He went 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Santa Fe is now 52-67, while Austin is 63-56.

Randy Barnhart had a big bases-clearing double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the first inning. With Santa Fe leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Brent Hansen, who is tied for 9th in the AC with a .825 OPS, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 4-0.
