Gangsters Need Extra Innings to Top Fleet, 7-3
The Chicago Gangsters and San Diego Fleet put on quite a show.

The Chicago Gangsters needed 17 innings to beat the San Diego Fleet, 7-3, at San Diego Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Hector Alvarez, who was 4 for 8 with 4 singles. He scored 3 runs. Elias Tapia came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 4-5.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 17th, until Alvarez delivered big-time for Chicago, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Tony Morales. The game-changing hit put the Gangsters on top, 4-3.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Alvarez told the Chicago News.

The Gangsters move to 41-74 with the win, while the Fleet drop to 69-46.
