Gangsters Sunk by Fleet
|
The San Diego Fleet knocked off the Chicago Gangsters, 4-2, at Peter Seidler Memorial Stadium. Carlos Miranda hit 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Bobby Corbo, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Brad Antol got the save, his 15th in 18 chances.
In the bottom of the seventh, San Diego designated hitter Dale Day hit a run-scoring single to center field. The clutch hit made it 3-2, Fleet.
San Diego manager Brian Burnett said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
At 72-42, the Fleet are currently first in the National Conference West Division.
