Mounties Defeated, 11-6, After Boston Rallies
|
The Boston Whistlers knocked off the Vancouver Mounties, 11-6, at Mounties Field. Carlos Herrera was a big reason Boston won. The second baseman went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Kevin Delaney in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Dave Agee took the loss. The Whistlers lead the American Conference Central Division by 3½ games.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Herrera delivered big-time for Boston, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Dave Agee. The game-changing hit put the Whistlers on top, 7-6.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Herrera told the Boston Citizen.
