White Deer Tropics starter Jake Fish pitched his team past the Mexico City Aztecs, 4-2. Fish picked up the win for White Deer, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Nate Roberson earned the save for White Deer, his 1st of the year.
White Deer used a well-timed hit by Jimmy Olivares to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Tropics ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Bottom line," said Mexico City skipper Tony Velez, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Tropics now own a record of 27-20.
